Malaysia mixed doubles pair Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei clinched their major title as a pair after they captured the Orleans Masters title courtesy of a 21-19, 21-17 victory over Chinese Taipei’s Ye Hong Wei-Lee Chia-hsin.
The Malaysians displayed a ferocious performance for the victory clinched in only 35 minutes to cap a sensational outing in France.
Chen-Toh’s victory also gave Malaysia its first title of the season on the BWF World Tour circuit, which began in January with the Malaysia Open.
The pair’s incredible journey together began only in November last year in what looked to be an experiment combination.
But in that first event at the Dhaka International Challenge, they went all the way to clinch the title.
They continued to impress by finishing second at the Malaysia International last December, before following it up with the Iran International title earlier this year.
In Orleans, the world number 26 pair began their road to success with a straight-game first round victory, before coming from behind to beat India’s Sai Pratheek-Tanisha Crasto in three pulsating games.
That victory proved their toughest, as Chen-Toh dismissed Swiss Open champions Jiang Zhen Bang-Wei Ya Xin and Indonesia’s Rehan Naufal-Lisa Ayu, both in straight games, to reach the final.

Chen-Toh proved too hot to handle for Ye-Lee in the final, with Toh marshalling the front court expertly to find winners through her deft flicks and Chen netting plenty of winners through his power smashes from the baseline.
This Super 300 title triumph left Toh clearly emotional, as she wiped away tears of joy while pointing to the Malaysian crest in pride.
