Yaya Toure lands Tottenham coaching role

Former Manchester City and Barcelona midfielder Yaya Toure has been appointed as coach of Tottenham Under-16s.

Toure had a spell working with Spurs' academy staff last season and the ex-Ivory Coast international has now landed a permanent role with the Premier League club.

The 39-year-old won three Premier League titles with City, while he also lifted the Champions League, La Liga, Copa del Rey, the FA Cup, League Cup and Africa Cup of Nations in a stellar career.

Spurs also appointed former their former winger Simon Davies as head of coaching methodology in their academy.

The London club earlier revealed that Jermain Defoe has taken up a new role in the academy coaching team and will also carry out club ambassador duties.

We are pleased to confirm new staffing appointments within our Academy as we set out on the 2022/23 season.
