Vitor Pereira is confident Wolves "will stay in the Premier League" after launching his reign with a 3-0 victory over Leicester City.

The former Al-Shabab coach, who replaced Gary O'Neil in the Molineux dugout earlier this week, made a winning start thanks to three first-half goals at the King Power Stadium.

Goncalo Guedes, Rodrigo Gomes and Matheus Cunha were all on target, as Wolves claimed their first Premier League away win over Leicester.

Pereira's new side subsequently closed the gap on the 17th-place Foxes to just two points, and he is adamant his players will drag themselves away from the relegation zone.

"I asked them to be proud at the end of the game of our work, and to make the supporters proud of our work," he told BBC Radio 5 Live.

"In three days, to organise the team and give them confidence to play like that is hard. I believe that this team will be more comfortable with the ball, have more possession and create more situations to score.

"I believe that we will stay in the Premier League, and we will play at a better level than we saw today. Today, I am happy as the team showed spirit and the spirit that Wolves supporters want to see."

Wolves recorded their first Premier League away clean sheet of the season, keeping their opponents out on the road for the first time since a goalless draw with Brighton in January.

They also registered only their third win by three or more goals on the road in the division, and their second in this campaign, having also triumphed 4-1 at Fulham.
