Fredy Montero scored the only goal of the game as in-form Vancouver Whitecaps defeated Portland Timbers 1-0 in MLS.
Former Sporting CP star Montero broke the deadlock in the ninth minute to extend hosts Vancouver's unbeaten streak to three matches.
Montero unleashed a powerful strike into the top corner of the net for his second goal in two matches on Friday.
With the win, the Whitecaps moved into seventh position and the play-off places in the Western Conference after 11 games.
