The USMNT is finalizing a deal to hire Earnie Stewart as the team's first general manager, Yahoo Sports reported Monday, citing multiple sources.
According to the report, an official announcement is expected to be made as early as this week.

Stewart, 49, played 14 years with the USMNT from 1990 to 2004 and appeared in the 1994, 1998 and 2002 World Cups for the United States.
The USMNT will sit out the World Cup in Russia this summer for the first time since 1986 after making seven straight appearances.
The GM position was created after the team failed to qualify.
