Under pressure Clement understands fan frustration after Dundee draw

Philippe Clement understood the frustrations of Rangers supporters as they watched their team drop more points on the road, this time against Dundee on Thursday.

Oluwaseun Adewumi's opener was cancelled out by Vaclav Cerny in the first half, but Rangers were unable to find the decisive goal after the break.

The result leaves them 15 points adrift of leaders Celtic, while the draw also means they have won just three of their 11 games away from Ibrox this campaign.

Many believed that Rangers' 3-0 win over Brendan Rodgers' side at the start of the year could have been a turning point in their season, but draws against Hibernian and Dundee have since followed.

Clement's side face St. Johnstone and Aberdeen in their next league fixtures, and the Rangers boss is looking for a response in the coming weeks from his players.

"We made it difficult for ourselves after six minutes, conceding a goal with not good defending," Clement said to BBC Scotland.

"Dundee made a low block with a lot of people. We've done well in recent weeks, opening it with runs, but we didn't do that today.

"I understand the fans' reaction. I'm also not happy losing these two points.

"We struggled with all the injuries. In recent weeks we've conceded too many goals, but that wasn't the case today.

"What we've done well the last couple of weeks, creating and scoring, we lacked today. Is it freshness? It can be. It can be confidence also after going behind, so we need to speak to the group."

Rangers struggled in the final third at Dens Park, managing to register an expected goals (xG) total of just 0.73 compared to Dundee's 1.01.

Their best efforts came from Cerny, who was denied by goalkeeper Trevor Carson, and Mohamed Diomande, who cracked a post from 25 yards late on.

Despite dominating possession during the contest, Clement acknowledged that his side were missing a clinical edge in front of goal, further expressing his frustration at the result.

"Not enough clear chances. In our last pass we were not good enough today," Clement told Sky Sports shortly after the game.

"We didn't show enough to make the difference. We were not decisive enough. We had enough moments to be there, but we didn't make enough of the right choices.

"It's normal [the fans are] unhappy. I'm also unhappy we didn't take the three points. I know I'm the face of the team, it's part of my job."
