Tomiyasu out for the season after knee surgery

Takehiro Tomiyasu has undergone a successful knee operation and will miss the rest of this season, Arsenal have confirmed.
The Japan international has played just six minutes for Mikel Arteta's side this season, appearing as a late substitute against Southampton in October.
It is the second time during his Arsenal career that Tomiyasu has required knee surgery, also going under the knife in the 2022-23 campaign.
The 26-year-old, who also missed 13 games last season with a calf injury, is set to be sidelined again for most of the calendar year.
"Despite an initial surgical procedure in August, followed by a return to full training, and featuring as a substitute in our home Premier League match against Southampton in October, Tomi continued to have issues with his knee, resulting in a further corrective surgical procedure," Arsenal said in a statement on their official website.
"Tomi will now begin his recovery and rehabilitation programme, which is expected to be completed towards the end of this year."
