Perak president Abdul Puhat Mat Nayan confirmed that the team are currently looking to sign at least two new foreign players to replace midfielder Yashir Pinto and defender Thiago Junior for the upcoming season.
According to him, the decision was made due to Pinto yet to recover from his injury and Thiago, who joined the Bos Gaurus in 2015, intending to retire from professional football.
The fates of their other two foreign stars, forward Gilmar Jose da Silva Filho and midfielder Leandro Dos Santos, as well as several local players are still open for discussion, but Abdul Puhat said the focus will be on replacing the departing duo first.
"Based on last season's record, we conceded more goals than we scored, so we want to address this weakness first," he said.
"Many players will remain, while only a select few, including those out of contract, will be dropped."
As for new signings, Abdul Puhat stayed mum on speculation linking the Malaysian Super League side with Selangor winger Andik Vermansah and other M-League stars.
"I do not deny that we have received proposals regarding several foreign players, so we will study them first," he added.
"Everything is still in the negotiation stage, but I feel the Bos Gaurus squad can be finalised in two weeks' time."
