Cristiano Ronaldo's first game in the Premier League since rejoining Manchester United attracted one of Astro Supersport's best viewership figures in recent years.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side beat Newcastle United 4-1 at Old Trafford with the Portuguese scoring twice on his second debut for the Red Devils.

Such was the overwhelming response for his return that it surpassed some of the iconic Premier League games' viewing numbers on Astro in the past five years, including Aston Villa's 7-2 thrashing of Liverpool, United's 3-2 comeback derby win at Etihad Stadium and Arsenal's 4-2 win over Tottenham Hotspur in 2018.

"Ronaldo's first game back in the Premier League was astounding and brilliant. Everybody was buzzing within the confines of the studio including our pundits and producers.

"He is an inspiration that shows age is but a number, and proves that his and [Lionel] Messi's status as the best players in the world isn’t ready to be taken just yet," said Astro Supersport host Adam Carruthers.

Malaysian fans can catch Ronaldo's next action in the UEFA Champions League, live on beIN Sports Max, as United travel to Swiss champions BSC Young Boys for their opening game.
