Perlis signalled their intent to return to the Malaysian Premier League next year by trialing several experienced M-League players including Faiz Subri.

The 2016 Puskas Award winner, who was released by Penang after the 2018 season, was spotted undergoing selection trials for the Northern Lions alongside ex-Kelantan defender Amiridzwan Taj Tajuddin, 2010 AFF Suzuki Cup winner Khyril Muhymeen Zambri, 2009 SEA Games gold medalist Abdul Manaf Mamat and former Pahang and Melaka United winger Fauzi Roslan.

Former Kelantan captain Badhri Radzi also reportedly agreed to join the FAM League side, who were relegated from the Premier League in 2017.

"We have contacted several players who have experience playing in the M-League. Some of them have come on their own and are interested to join Perlis.

"We are in the midst of getting the team ready and want to have early preparations to ensure we fare better than we did last season," new Perlis head coach Manzoor Azwira Abdul Wahid told Astro Arena.

However, he refused to rush into signing players based on their past reputation and wanted to observe their fitness levels and commitment before announcing the team for next season.

"I will look at their quality regardless of their past achievements. Chemistry is the main aspect I'm emphasising on," he added.
