Newcastle Jets have announced the loan signing of Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) midfielder Liridon Krasniqi until the end of the 2020-21 A-League season.

The naturalised Malaysian, who received his citizenship last year, is expected to provide some much-needed attacking threat for the Jets, who are now bottom of the league standings with just one win in six games.

His arrival at the McDonald Jones Stadium was confirmed on the same day as JDT team-mate Syahrian Abimanyu.

Johor Darul Ta'zim FC have loaned Syahrian Abimanyu and Liridon Krasniqi to Australian club Newcastle Jets. We signed Syahrian at the end 2020 as a long-term signing and this move is in line with aspirations to develop the player over the next few years. [1/2] pic.twitter.com/3rGqRe1xF2

"His character ticks a lot of boxes. He speaks good English, has a presence in the sheds and is eager to learn about our culture.

"He is committed to expanding his game," said Jets football manager Joel Griffiths.

Currently undergoing mandatory COVID-19 quarantine in Australia, Krasniqi would be able to play for his new team when the A-League transfer window opens on February 16.
