Manchester City will aim to have their squad for next season ready for the Club World Cup, so says chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak.

The new-look, 32-team Club World Cup gets under way on June 14, with Man City starting their campaign four days later against Morocco's Wydad AC.

Pep Guardiola’s team failed to win a major trophy this season, losing in the FA Cup final to Crystal Palace and finishing third in the Premier League, but this is an opportunity to end their campaign on a high.

City previously made four additions to the squad in January as they signed Omar Marmoush, Nico Gonzalez, Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis.

But with a key player leaving in Kevin De Bruyne, and speciation mounting over Jack Grealish's future, Al Mubarak says business in the summer window will be "just as swift" as City look to get deals over the line ahead of the tournament.

"We feel very good about these players," Al Mubarak said.

"That's four players in January. And that gives you an idea of what's coming this summer because we will continue this summer with this, serving the needs of the club.

"And I can tell you today, that's, I would say, day one of the new season, we have clearly identified who exactly are the targets, in what positions, and we have our clear number one option, our clear number two option.

"And we'll go about our business, and it will be very clear, very swift. And our objective is to try to be ready with the new squad for the Club World Cup."

City's clash with Wydad on June 18 is followed by group games against Al Ain on June 23 and Juventus on June 26.
