Malaysian FA Cup Recap: Non-league teams Southern and Axis-O2 make history
Southern and Axis-O2 created history as they became the first social league teams to reach the second round of the 2018 Malaysian FA Cup after emerging victorious on Tuesday.
The two sides, who were among the nine amateur teams to be included in the FA Cup for the first time, beat Selangor United 2-1 and SRCC Kuala Kangsar 4-1 respectively.
Southern, currently competing in the Setia Alam Super League, produced a 2-1 comeback win over United thanks to two goals from Sharul Afif Shaharuddin, while 2017 Selangor Super League winners Axis easily brushed aside SRCC Kuala Kangsar 4-1.

As for their other fellow amateur teams, they were not as fortunate with their FAM League counterparts showing superiority.
Jerantut almost joined them in the second round, having opened the scoring against Terengganu City through Arifiyahsah Abdul Jaafar, but eventually lost 2-1 thanks to goals from Rahizi Rasib.
At the INSPENS Stadium, Fakhrullah Rosli put in a five-star performance as he netted all but one goal in MOF's 6-0 demolition of CNA.
The former DRB-Hicom forward scored as many goals in one match as last season's top scorer, Ken Ilso Larsen, did throughout the competition.
PJ Rangers were also involved in a high-scoring win, beating Jempol 6-1 at the MBPJ Stadium.
Azriddin Rosli, Nur Shamie Iszuan Amin and Arif Anwar, who are all turning 23 this year, scored four of the goals with Raslam Khan Abdul Rashid coming off the bench to complete the rout with a brace.
Goals from Faizal Abdul Rani (two) and Firdaus Anuar saw 2017 Selangor Champions League runners-up PIB go down 3-0 to Shahzan Muda, while Invictus also fell to Hanelang by the same score at the Panasonic Sports Complex in Shah Alam, with Zairo Anuar Zalani, Saiful Nizam Abdullah and Faizal Abdul Aziz hitting the back of the net.
Lastly, Ahmad Shakri Tuah and Shafitri Salim helped Kuching seal a 2-0 win over Real Chukai.
The FA Cup second round will be played on March 2 and 3.
