Malaysia will be participating in the upcoming Paris Olympics 2024 at the end of July 2024, which is the 30th edition of the Summer Olympics 2024.

This will be Malaysia’s 15th participation in the Summer Olympics games since 1964.

Since 2008’s Beijing Olympics, Malaysia have had multiple opportunities to clinch an Olympics Gold medal but have fallen short at the final stage. With more than 20 athletes participating from Malaysia, here’s the nation’s opportunity to go for Gold again.

Date and Venue of Paris Olympics 2024

The Summer Olympics 2024 will be held in France with Paris as the main host city from 26th July to 11th August 2024. Events will also be held across 16 other cities and the island of Tahiti.

Malaysian athletes will compete in the sports of Diving, Swimming, Sailing, Shooting, Archery, Cycling, Weightlifting, Badminton, Golf, and Athletics. The first Malaysian athlete to compete will be Ariana Nur Diana in Archery (Women’s Individual Ranking Round) on Thursday 25th July 2024, 3:30pm.

Chef de mission (CDM) means “Head of mission” in French. An Olympics CDM is the person appointed to lead a national delegation of athletes at the Olympics. The Malaysian CDM is Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin.

Flag bearers carry the national flag of their country at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games. Malaysia’s flag bearers for Olympics 2024 are 19-year-old diver Bertrand Rhodict Lises and 25-year-old sailor Nur Shazrin Mohamad Latif.

The name of the Paris 2024 mascot is Olympic Phryge, based on the traditional small Phrygian hats that the mascots are shaped after. The name and design were chosen as symbols of freedom and to represent allegorical figures of the French republic.
