Malaysia miss out on AFF U-16 Championship final

Malaysia will play in the AFF U-16 Youth Championship third-place match for the second year running after losing to Indonesia in the semi-finals on Thursday.

Amiruddin Bagus Kahfi Al-Fikri netted his 12th goal of the tournament from the penalty spot in the 72nd minute at the Gelora Delta Stadium in Sidoarjo, Indonesia, to send the hosts to the final, where they will face three-time winners Thailand on Saturday.

It will be Indonesia's only second appearance in the final, with their previous appearance in 2013 that saw them lose on penalties to Malaysia.

Malaysia, meanwhile, will face Myanmar in an attempt to improve on their 2017 performance, when they lost 3-2 to Australia in the third-place match.
