Malaysia call up naturalised player Sumareh

Gambian-born Mohamadou Sumareh has earned his maiden international call-up to the Malaysia national football team since acquiring his citizenship.
The Pahang star, who became a naturalised Malaysian in July after living in the country since the age of 12, was named in head coach Tan Cheng Hoe's 24-man squad for friendly matches against Sri Lanka on October 12 and the Kyrgyz Republic on October 16.
Both matches are part of the Harimau Malaya's preparations for the 2018 AFF Suzuki Cup.
Matthew Davies, who has also been called up for both the matches, tweeted his approval of his club team-mate's inclusion.

Should Sumareh make his international bow, he would become the first footballer to represent Malaysia despite having no blood ties to the country.
