Rico Zulkarnain has left Kuantan Rangers to join former Manchester United star Ryan Giggs at Mumbai Warriors for the 2017 Indian Premier Futsal season.

The Welsh-born forward, who helped the Malaysian side win the Brunei Futsal League earlier this year, will participate in the two-week tournament and aim to defend the title Giggs' team won last year in the inaugural edition.

"This is a really unique and exciting opportunity for me, and I can not wait to show the world what RZ9 has to offer," he said.

Despite his short time at the club, Rico was grateful to Rangers for the opportunity to play in Malaysia and backed them to achieve more sucess.

"I am very grateful for the wonderful opportunity to come to Malaysia and to showcase my talent here," he added.

"Although brief, I would like to thank Tengku Fahad and Tengku Aidy for bringing me here to share my experience with the players and fans, and of course supporters of futsal in Malaysia.

"Thanks again to my team-mates and coaches, and I’m going away with lots of fond memories.

"The next major goal for the club is to qualify for the Malaysian national futsal league, but I know the futsal world will see some exciting events from them in the near future.

"I won’t say too much, but having spoken with Tengku Fahad, I know that he has major plans."

The second season of the Premier Futsal will kick off on September 15, with the Warriors facing Brazil legend Ronaldinho and Delhi Dragons.

The futsal league will also feature other big names such as Michel Salgado, Hernan Crespo and Deco.
