Ong Kim Swee hinted that he will remain as head coach of Malaysia U-22s after meeting with the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) higher-ups.

After securing the young Tigers's spot at the 2018 AFC U-23 Championship and clinching a silver medal finish at the 2017 SEA Games, the 46-year-old has been linked with several jobs.

Although they did not discuss in detail regarding his contract, which will expire at the end of this year, Ong described the meeting as positive.

"I have met with the management including FAM president Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim," he told Astro Arena.

"I believe we will reach a decision that will benefit both parties."

He is also looking forward to getting his future sorted out to focus on the national team's preparation for AFC U-23 Championship.

"The weather condition in China in January will play an important role. We need to be ready in December to get acclimatised to it," he added.

Meanwhile, Ong was pleased to see some of his U-22 players attract the attention of Thai clubs following their recent good performances.

According to reports, they have inquired about Adam Nor Azlin, Azam Azih, Syamer Kutty Abba, Jafri Firdaus Chew, Adib Zainuddin and N. Thanabalan.

"[Our players might struggle] if they move to Europe due to differences in food cultures, but Thailand will be easier due to the shorter distance," he said.

"They should not be affected by homesickness just because the food is different."
