The Kelantan Football Association (KAFA) presidential race will be decided between vice president Nasir Hamzah and businesswoman Bibi Ramjani Ilias Khan at the 63rd KAFA Congress on September 17.
KAFA secretary-general Ismail Noor confirmed that only the two out of five candidates submitted their application to run for president before 5pm yesterday.
Both presidential candidates have expressed a desire to return the Red Warriors to their glory days and resolve all problems surrounding the team including salary issues.
Afandi Hamzah has been Kelantan's interim president since Annuar Musa stepped down last November.
Besides the president's post, other key positions such as the deputy president, which will be contested between Afandi and Rosmadi Ismail, as well as exco members for the 2017-2021 term will also be determined this Sunday.
Ismail also said Article 39(2) of the association's statutes will be used, in which a two-thirds majority will be required for a candidate to win the presidential race.
"If a two-thirds majority is not achieved, then a second round of voting will be held, in which a candidate with a simple majority will win," he said.
"For other posts, the winners will be determined with the most votes.
"For your info, KAFA have appointed lawyer Rosley Izmin as chairman of the independent election committee to handle the election process and vote count on September 17."
