Holders Juventus reached the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia with a comfortable 4-0 home win over Cagliari on Tuesday.
The Bianconeri are unbeaten in Serie A yet well off the pace at the top following a series of draws, but a convincing Coppa victory continued their quest for silverware this season.
Dusan Vlahovic scored a minute before the break, having netted a stoppage-time equaliser against Venezia on Saturday, and Teun Koopmeiners added a second with a free-kick early in the second half.
Substitute Nicolas Gonzalez then came to the fore, teeing up Francisco Conceicao for the third 10 minutes from time before notching the fourth himself in the 89th minute.
Juve boss Thiago Motta might wonder where such a ruthless display has been in previous matches, with relegation-battling Cagliari holding his side in the league back in October.
And there will be another opportunity to set matters straight in the last eight in February as Motta's men now face Empoli, another team who have already taken points off them in Serie A.
Data Debrief: Coppa control again
Perhaps it should come as no surprise record 15-time winners Juve have reserved one of their most dominant performances of the season for this competition and this stage.
The Bianconeri are still the only side to have progressed through the round of 16 in every season since this stage returned to a single-leg format in 2008-09, now making this 17 successful last-16 ties in a row.
