Bayer Leverkusen captain Lukas Hradecky believes they made a lot of "mature decisions" to see out their 2-1 win over Union Berlin on Saturday.

Jeremie Frimpong had opened the scoring inside two minutes, but they were pegged back by Jeong Wooyeong in the 29th minute.

In-form Patrik Schick scored the winner late on, with that his 48th goal in his 100th Bundesliga appearance for Leverkusen - equalling Ulf Kirsten's club record (also 48 goals in 100 BL matches).

Xabi Alonso's side held out for all three points, having given up leads to draw their last two away matches in the German top-flight, and Hradecky praised his team-mates' resilience in the closing stages.

"We made a lot of mature decisions," he said. "It's been an issue for us that we've dropped points in previous away games.

"We stayed solid defensively and can be proud of the performance."

Leverkusen limited Berlin to just two shots on target throughout the game, while Hradecky was not tested at all in the second half.

In fact, they are unbeaten in their last 23 Bundesliga away games (W17 D6), while they have also scored in all of those fixtures, an ongoing club record.

Alonso was also pleased they managed to end their run of draws away from home.

"It's going well for us right now," Alonso said.

"It was important that we finally won away again - we've learned from the last few weeks."
