Barcelona coach Hansi Flick praised Ronald Araujo's resilience ahead of Sunday's Supercopa de Espana final, amid rumours regarding the future of the fit-again defender.

Barca, the most successful side in the history of the Supercopa with 14 titles, are preparing to meet rivals Real Madrid in Sunday's showpiece game in Saudi Arabia, the second Clasico of the season.

The Blaugrana will be able to count on Uruguay international Araujo, who recently returned to action after spending five months out with a hamstring injury.

However, with Barca still struggling to meet LaLiga's strict salary cap rules, reports have suggested Araujo could be in line for an exit, with Arsenal and Juventus linked.

Speaking at Saturday's pre-match press conference, Flick said of Araujo: "Ronald is back stronger than ever.

"He's an excellent option for us, very professional, and ready to play. I don't pay attention to the rumours. I'm just happy to have him on my side.

"I have told the team, 'there is only outside noise, you have to be cohesive and strong'. It's a great season, we have done well in general.

"We have to be focused. We have played well for the club and we can do better. I know what we want."

Barca's financial issues meant they were unable to register attacking midfielder Dani Olmo, making him ineligible for the first few games of 2025, though a successful appeal means he can feature on Sunday.

Asked about Olmo's readiness for the match, Flick said: "Yes, he can play. He's physically and mentally prepared and is very happy with the opportunity."

Barcelona crushed Madrid 4-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu when the teams last met in October, but Flick expects a different game this time around and has stressed the need for discipline.

"We need to play for 90 minutes and reduce mistakes. Madrid are exceptional in transitions, and we have to be prepared," he said.

"This is the Supercopa, a Clasico, and a chance to prove ourselves. If we win, it will be a huge victory for the club."
