FAM president Hamidin elected as AFF vice-president
Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) president Hamidin Amin was elected as Asean Football Federation (AFF) vice-president for the 2019-2023 term at the AFF Congress in Siem Reap, Cambodia, on Sunday.
The others elected as AFF vice-presidents were Myanmar’s Zaw Zaw, who retained the post, and Francisco Kalbuadi Lay of Timor Leste.
Khiev Sameth of Cambodia became the new AFF president, replacing Sultan Ahmad Shah, who did not seek re-election for health reasons.

Sameth won uncontested following the withdrawal of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al Mustafa Billah Shah.
Sameth, also the vice-president of the Cambodian Football Federation, previously held the AFF deputy president’s post.
Meanwhile, FAM secretary-general Stuart Ramalingam described Hamidin’s election as an honour for the FAM and the country.
"As a pioneer of AFF, the FAM should have a voice in determining the policies and direction of AFF, more so since the regional body is based in Kuala Lumpur, with its headquarters set to be completed this year.
"We are hoping for better cooperation among AFF members under the leadership of Sameth so that AFF can help its members raise the standard of football in South-East Asia," he said.
Hamidin, FAM deputy president Subahan Kamal and Stuart represented the FAM at the AFF Congress and council meeting.
