England crashed out of the World Cup Wednesday with a heartbreaking 2-1 semifinal loss against Croatia after grabbing an early lead.

A nation tormented by poor showings in the biggest events finally put together a spirited run that looked poised for a shot at World Cup glory. But Croatia scored in the second half to level the game, and then again in overtime to shock England.

While England's top football players were on the pitch, its top golfers were sitting at home watching the game unfold. Needless to day, they weren't happy with the final outcome.

Fleetwood and Hatton, two of England's top rising stars were disappointed, and they haven't even had to endure as much pain as some of the veterans like Justin Rose and Ian Poulter.

That’s a real shame.. Dream start and played so well. It’s been amazing watching and feeling a nation who has been buzzing game after game. Hold your heads high lads. @England ????????????????????

The young England squad will get its next shot at glory in 2020 at the Euros.
