Dion Cools tasted immediate success in his short time in Denmark after FC Midtjylland clinched the Danish Superliga title on Thursday.

Needing just a draw against defending champions FC Copenhagen, who were second on the standings, the Wolves ran out 3-1 winners at MCH Arena to mathematically ensure the league title with five matches remaining.

It was their third league title in six seasons.

Cools, who had his season interrupted by injury as well as the COVID-19 pandemic, made his return to the playing squad for the title-clinching game but did not come off the bench.

The Belgian-Malaysian full-back joined Midtjylland in January this year after finding limited playing opportunities at former club Club Brugge.

In a recent interview with Astro Arena, the Kuching-born defender said he would be interested to play for Malaysia but had not been formally approached by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) about it.
