Coronavirus: JDT players take pay cut, donate to disaster fund

Malaysian Super League champions Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) players and staff have agreed to take a pay cut in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
On top of that, the portion of their salaries would be channeled into the state's disaster fund.
"Due to humanitarian demands that the Covid-19 outbreak has brought upon all walks of life, JDT players, coaches and staff have agreed to take a 33 per cent salary cut and donate a portion of their salaries to the Johor Disaster Fund.
"This is in order to help the club and society ease their burden during this testing time," read an official statement posted on Sunday.

The Southern Tigers' initiative were well commended by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), Malaysian Football League (MFL) as well as the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
Like most major football leagues around the world, Malaysian football came to a halt since March 16 due to the coronavirus outbreak.
