The President of the Colombian Football Federation, Ramon Jesurun, was arrested after the Copa America final last Sunday, according to Miami-Dade Police records, facing three criminal charges. Jesurun and his son, Ramon Jamil Jesurun, were both detained at Hard Rock Stadium in a chaotic scene that saw police make 27 arrests and remove 55 people from the venue.

The 71-year-old football official was accused of assaulting law enforcement officers or event workers on all three charges. Jesurun was arrested on Monday and ordered to pay a bond of USD 1,000 (RM 4,670) for each of the first two charges.

The shocking situation occurred before the 8 a.m. (Malaysian time) kickoff of the Copa America final. Miami, home to a large expatriate population from both competing teams, Argentina and Colombia, saw a high demand for tickets, with prices starting at USD 1,300 (RM 6,058).

This high demand led to video footage of fans jumping over stadium gates and entering the NFL stadium through air vents, among other illegal entries to the venue, to watch the final. Many ticket holders found their seats already taken by intruders, with event staff failing to assist the fans.
