Jamie Maclaren completed a decisive brace in the 85th minute to lead 10-man Melbourne City to a 2-1 win over Western United on Sunday.

The free-scoring Socceroos striker raced in behind and lashed an unerring finish across Filip Kurto to snatch all three points close to full-time at GMHBA Stadium.

City had looked to be battling for no more than a draw following Harrison Delbridge's dismissal, the defender shown a second yellow in the 64th minute for handling the ball as he lunged in on Besart Berisha in the box.

Berisha converted the resultant penalty but, having opened the scoring in the first half, Maclaren continued his electric form with a third goal in two games this season to inflict a maiden A-League defeat on Mark Rudan's men.

Bruno Fornaroli's first Perth Glory goal earlier helped last season's Premiers to a comfortable 2-1 victory away to Wellington Phoenix.

The Uruguayan stabbed in an 11th-minute opener following Diego Castro's mazy dribble and the pair were involved in constructing the second for Chris Ikonomidis before the break.

Dino Djulbic's foul on debutant Gary Hooper enabled Ulises Davila to grab a consolation from the spot in second-half stoppage time, but Wellington were left at the foot of the table after three defeats from three matches.
