Thinaah, Axelsen support new 15x3 scoring system proposal

BWF

M.Thinaah and Viktor Axelsen have become one of the first batch of shuttlers to voice their support for the new 15x3 scoring system proposed by the Badminton World Federation (BWF).

World number two Thinaah said she wouldn't mind trying out the new system if it makes matches more exciting.

"There is no harm to try it because it is something new. I know the games will be faster and probably more intense because it is shorter than the current 21. Every player might just go all in to attack," said Thinaah on The Average Not Average Podcast.

Two-time Olympic champion Axelsen, who is currently still out of contention having not featured this year, felt the new system would be "fun".

"Matches could be shorter at first, because fewer points means shorter games. It should be fun to watch," he said.

The players' opinions will definitely be noticed by the BWF members, who are set to vote on the new scoring system on April 25 at the world body's Annual General Meeting.

When BWF announced the proposal on their social media channels last week, many fans expressed their objections and asked for the current 21x3 scoring system which has been in effect in 2006, to remain.
