Charlayne Chong was crowned Champion of The Ladies 2026 after a dramatic playoff against Genevieve Ling, bringing an exciting conclusion to the second edition of the women’s golf championship at The Mines Resort & Golf Club. Charlayne and Genevieve completed the 54-hole championship tied at 16-under-par on 197, forcing the title to be decided in a playoff.
Charlayne prevailed to claim the championship, with Genevieve finishing as runner-up. Defending champion Liyana Durisic finished third at 11-under-par on 202, while Zulaikah Nasser placed fourth at 8-under-par on 205. Ng Jing Xuen and Pang Hee Jie finished tied at 7-under-par on 206. The final round capped three days of competitive women’s golf featuring a strong field of Malaysian professional and amateur players, including Kelly Tan, who completed the championship on 214.
The Ladies 2026 continued its objective of providing a strong competitive platform for women golfers while creating greater visibility and opportunities for the development of women’s golf in Malaysia. The Closing and Prize-Giving Ceremony was graced by Duli Yang Maha Mulia Tunku Ampuan Besar Negeri Sembilan Darul Khusus, Tuanku Aishah Rohani binti Almarhum Tengku Besar Mahmud. The Royal presence added further significance to the final day, as players, officials, sponsors, partners and guests came together to celebrate the tournament and the achievements of the players.
Tan Sri Lee Kim Yew, Founder of The Mines Resort & Golf Club, said The Ladies was created with a long-term vision to provide meaningful competitive opportunities for women golfers. “The Ladies is about giving women golfers a strong competitive platform and an opportunity to showcase their ability. We want to see more Malaysian women golfers progressing, competing and achieving greater recognition.”
“This is only our second year. We want The Ladies to continue developing year by year and become a tournament that players look forward to competing in.” The Ladies 2026 was held from 1 to 3 October 2026, following the Royal Pro-Am on 30 September 2026. The tournament was hosted by The Mines Resort & Golf Club, organised by Professional Golf of Malaysia, and sanctioned by the Malaysian Golf Association.
Building on the momentum of this year’s championship, preparations have already begun for The Ladies 2027, with plans to further strengthen the tournament both competitively and commercially. The proposed prize structure for 2027 will offer RM50,000 to the Champion, RM30,000 to the Runner-Up and RM20,000 for Third Place.
The proposed The Ladies International Series category will initially focus on players from ASEAN countries, before expanding participation more broadly. The international event is proposed to feature a field of 60 players, and prize money of RM300,000, RM200,000 and RM100,000 respectively for the top three positions.
The tournament has also secured an early commercial commitment for 2027, with MKL Bangkit, representing Hamsaga Premium Korean Red Ginseng, confirming a RM300,000 Gold Sponsorship for The Ladies 2027. The sponsorship agreement was signed by Ms Mi Ran Shin, Managing Director & CEO of MKL Bangkit, together with The Mines Excellence. Delon has also committed RM80,000 in in-kind apparel sponsorship over two years in the year of 2025 and 2026.
As part of its move towards a more digital and technology-driven tournament experience, Vendfun Sdn Bhd has been appointed as the Official Ticketing and Automation Partner for The Ladies 2027, providing online ticketing, QR verification, walk-in registration and on-site self-service kiosks. The partnership was formalised through an MOU signing ceremony witnessed by Tan Sri Lee Kim Yew and Admiral Tan Sri Dato’ Setia Mohd Anwar bin Mohd Nor (Rtd), supporting the tournament’s vision to bring together competitive golf, lifestyle, wellness, hospitality and technology while continuing to promote the growth of women’s golf.
